SENIOR LABORATORY CHEMIST

Plant Manager

Location
Shinyanga, Tanzania

Experience: Minimum 5 years (7+ years with senior/supervisory experience preferred)

ROLE SUMMARY
Responsible for the technical operation, analytical accuracy, QA/QC, and daily supervision of the mineral analytical laboratory — including sample
preparation, AAS analysis, Fire Assay, Aqua Regia, and metallurgical test work (bottle roll and column leach). Trains junior staff and upholds
ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise daily lab operations, sample prep, and analytical workflow
Perform/oversee Fire Assay and Aqua Regia analysis with AAS finish
Maintain QA/QC: standards, blanks, duplicates, CRMs; investigate failures
Conduct bottle roll and column leach metallurgical test work
Review analytical data, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot AAS and lab instruments
Enforce lab safety, chemical handling, and PPE compliance
Train and supervise junior technicians and lab assistants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Metallurgy
5+ years in mineral analytical laboratories (ISO-certified preferred, e.g. SGS, MSA, Minoplex, Alfred H. Knight)
Hands-on experience with Fire Assay, Aqua Regia, and AAS (Agilent 240FS a plus)
Experience supervising lab staff and running metallurgical leach tests
